SAT / PSAT Test Preparation
A good SAT score increases your academic options. It will provide you with a better choice of colleges and financial aid packages. Furthermore, the commitment you make to this goal, and the academic knowledge you gain from doing so, will improve your life skills. Here are some ways to prepare:
- Study with an SAT /PSAT prep book. Both Barrons and McGraw Hill provide good teaching material and sample tests
- Take the Official SAT Practice Test offered by the College Board (online or in your test booklet available from your guidance counselor).
- Take the Preliminary Scholastic Achievement Test (PSAT). This test for 10th and 11th graders is a good indicator of how you will perform on the SAT.
- Prepare one-on-one with Advanced Learning Center. Recently, one of our students improved his overall score by 350 points.

The SAT writing section, introduced in 2005, has made many students nervous, both because of the required essay as well as the grammar section. Advantage Learning Center has developed an almost foolproof method to help you generate ideas and responses to almost any essay question. One student using this method increased her essay score from a 6 to a 9.
